I am a Consultant Fetal and Paediatric Cardiologist. I qualified as a doctor in 2000, from University College Hospital Dublin, Ireland. In 2003, I became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Ireland and completed specialist training in Paediatrics in 2008. I completed a fellowship in paediatric cardiology in Children’s Hospital Boston from 2008-2011 and a further year of subspecialty paediatric cardiac imaging, including fetal echocardiography in Childrens hospital, Colorado 2011-12.
I was appointed a consultant paediatric cardiologist and took up my current NHS post at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, in June 2012. In terms of child heart surgery, the department is the largest in the UK. I have an interest in echocardiography, including fetal echocardiography. Together with my cardiology colleagues, we provide a full programme of cardiology care for baby’s and children.
My private practice is based at the Harris International Patient Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Following a detailed assessment and diagnosis, a individualised care plan is created that will act as clear pathway of referral to a range of specialties that may include interventional procedures (day-case, key–hole procedures) or child heart surgery if indicated.
